The Eurasia Pacific Uninet (EPU) is a network which aims at establishing contacts and scientific partnerships between Austrian universities, universities of applied sciences, other research institutions and member institutions in East Asia, Central Asia, South Asia and the Pacific region.
In the framework of the EPU membership St. Pölten UAS, UAS Technikum Wien, the National University of Mongolia and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology generated several common projects since 2008. The National University of Mongolia (NUM) and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) are the two oldest and biggest public universities of Mongolia. The co-operation started in 2008 with a workshop about developments in higher education in Ulaanbaatar; the workshop focused on the transfer of experiences and knowledge and continued with a conference held in Vienna and St. Pölten in the year 2009.
During the academic year 2010/11 St. Pölten UAS and the MUST worked together on a project about regenerative energy. With the help of simulation technology, suggestions for a sustainable and efficient energy balance were worked out. The co-operation continues in 2011/12 with common research projects, common supervision of final theses and guest professorships.
